"I Know Thy Heart"

Doctrine & Covenants 112-117

Isn't it great to know that, just like the early members of the church, Jesus Christ knows us individually? Here are some phrases that give me hope in the midst of my challenges:

"I have heard thy prayers." (D&C 112:1, and more)
"All thy sins are forgiven thee." (D&C 112:3)
"Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers." (D&C 112:10)
"An effectual [which means energetic and efficient] door shall be opened unto you." (D&C 112:19)
"Trouble not yourselves." (D&C 112:27)
"Be faithful until I come." (D&C 112:34)
"To put on her [Zion's] strength is to put on the authority of the priesthood." (D&C 113:8)
"Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations." (D&C 115:5)

There's a really neat "end of the story" to section 117 and Oliver Granger, where he is promised that "his name shall be had in sacred remembrance from generation to generation, forever and ever." President Packer gave a talk on this in October 2004 and reminded us that we will fail, but that as long as we remain true and faithful, that's okay. He said, "Let no one underestimate the power of faith in the ordinary Latter-day Saints." That promise also gives me great hope.
