Scripture Study and Prayer

I came across this quote from President Henry B. Eyring and it struck me as being something I ought to work on, so I don't want to forget it. [read the entire talk here - "Prayer"]

"If we become casual in our study of the scriptures, we will become casual in our prayers. We may not cease to pray, but our prayers will become more repetitive, more mechanical, lacking real intent."

For several years I've wondered how to make my prayers more meaningful and effective. I had never before considered that improving my scripture study would improve my prayers. Time to test that theory!
