Serenity: Calmness, tranquility

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

From what I've learned about Grandma Doris, I get the sense that she embodied serenity, calmness and tranquility. I know she had poor health and died on the young side, yet I don't sense that she was troubled by her challenges. I'm sure her home followed this counsel by Elder Scott (see link below):

You can center your home and your life on the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the source of true peace in this life. Be certain that every decision you make, whether temporal or spiritual, is conditioned on what the Savior would have you do. When He is the center of your home, there is peace and serenity. There is a spirit of assurance that pervades the home, and it is felt by all who dwell there.

That sure looks like a serene countenance to me!

I'm also pretty sure this grandmother loved Christmas. A couple of weeks ago I was given her recipe for Christmas Butter Cookies, something that graced the table during their annual Christmas party. I'm looking forward to trying them myself this year.
