Elder Andersen
General Conference talks by Elder Andersen (first five before called to be an apostle)
Although not at the same time, we've both lived in the Tampa, Florida area; that's a real connection and makes me sit up and take notice when it's his turn to speak. With an uncle who served a mission in France, and taking French myself in high school, I love his recollections of when he lived in France. Elder Andersen loves to use stories of real people, and will usually include several examples in each talk. One of those (in April 2017) was of my mom's fourth cousin - Bruce D. Porter. I appreciate having these faithful examples of ordinary people.
Elder Andersen also shares great analogies, including mole crickets and puzzle pieces and whirlwinds, he often adds pictures and graphs to his presentations, and I was particularly impressed with his wish to be "sufficiently meek that the Lord can mold and strengthen my spirit to accomplish his purposes" expressed in his very first conference talk, and repeated when he was called to be an apostle.
